Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

The Foot & Ankle’s version of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in the wrist, Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome usually involves entrapment of the tibial nerve on the inner side of the ankle. It generally affects the Inner Ankle and can present with tingling, pins and needles, numbness and pain on the inside of the inner ankle and down into the arch of the foot and toes.

Symptoms of Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome are different between individuals. Usually symptoms progress gradually, though sometimes  symptoms can begin very suddenly.

Pain and other symptoms are often aggravated by physical activity and with use of the Foot & Ankle. If the condition is long-standing, some people may even experience pain, numbness or tingling in their foot at night or when they are resting.
