ITB Syndrome

ITB Syndrome most commonly develops in runners, with up to 14% of runners suffering from it at some point in their running lives. It is also associated with a variety of sports such as hockey, cycling, field sports and basketball. It can involve pain, inflammation, and degeneration along the course of the large band of connective tissue running along the outside of the thigh (the Ilio-Tibial Band). The pain usually affects the lateral (outside) of the knee but can radiate up the leg towards the hip.
