Sports Injuries

Overuse injuries in sport are often as a result of poor shock absorption or abnormal movements in the foot, ankle and limb. Biomechanical examination can identify areas of weakness in the Kinetic Chain (related movements in the joints of the foot, limb and pelvis).
By correcting foot function with orthotics the feet and limbs move more optimally and reduce the likelihood of stresses to bone, muscles, tendons and ligament. Allowing for better function in the foot and limb can make sports people less likely to sustain injury & make sports activities more COMFORTABLE and FUN!
Podiatry and Sports Injuries
Common Sports overuse injuries include (far from exhaustive list)
Low Back Pain
Scaro-Iliac joint problems (pelvis) - Piriformis problems (sciatica)
Generalised Hip pain (trochanteric bursitis, Ilio-tibial band friction syndrome)
Knee pain (Runners knee, Ilio-tibial band friction syndrome, Bursitis)
Shin Pain - commonly known as 'shin splints' (tendonitis, periostitis or stress fractures)
Achilles tendonitis (other forms of tendonitis are also common around the ankle)
Ankle pain (footballers ankle, Sinus tarsi syndrome, recurrent ankle sprains)
Heel pain & arch pain
Stress fractures in bones of the foot
Forefoot problems (neuromas, ligament and bony problems)
